Exploring Mass Media’s Representations of GBV

Many people’s lives are greatly impacted by mass media arising from news reports, TV series, movies, music/music videos, books/magazines and social media. The media plays an influential role in our society today, and has the power to shape how we understand and navigate the world. Join us for this informative educational workshop where we explore how mass media is actively reinforcing dominant myths and stereotypes of GBV, identify common problematic representations, the strength and use of language as a tool, and expand our framework from which to analyze the content that we are consuming every day.
