Boys Will Be…Themselves Film Screening (Edmonton)

“Boys will be boys.”

We’ve all heard it a thousand times. It’s been used to ignore or excuse aggressive or stereotypical behaviour from boys or men. But what are we really saying, when we use that phrase? That boys are one way, that they can’t grow, that we shouldn’t expect much from them? How limiting can that be?

What if boys could be so much more than what they’ve been told they could be, or should be?

Join Next Gen Men on November 27 for a screening of Boys Will Be…Themselves, a new Canadian documentary created by Dylan Rhys Howard that explores the ways masculinity is evolving and changing in the 21st Century.

After the screening, stick around for a panel discussion featuring folks who helped create the documentary & other guests!

About Next Gen Men

Next Gen Men is a small-but-mighty Canadian nonprofit whose work is dedicated to a future where boys and men experience less pain and cause less harm. We engage people of all genders as leaders, role models, and mentors to challenge and expand the norms of masculinity. Together, we can build a future where boys are free to be themselves — and become the next generation of men that this world needs.

We bring together perspectives from across Canada, across genders, and across specialties to talk about why we all have a stake in the future of masculinity.

Find us in your community, your classroom, your workplace, online, across Canada, the U.S. and anywhere you find our community. Learn more about us here.
