A Long Road: The Links between Gender Justice and Safe, Affordable Transportation

How do we move towards safe and empowering public spaces?

As part of YWCA’s annual Week Without Violence programming, join this virtual panel to hear from cross-sectoral experts, advocates, and practitioners on the need for safe, affordable, gender-responsive transit systems as part of the critical social infrastructure to end and prevent Gender-Based Violence in Canada.

Panelists will address the rise in gendered violence on public transit, the ongoing crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two Spirit people, and the implications of uneven or unreliable transport availability for gender equality, mobility justice, and community safety.
